About Life-CAHST, LLC

Life-CAHST, LLC

Life-CAHST, LLC is a forensic, investigative, educational, and somatic services firm founded and led by Kristin K. Long and Matt Long. It is built on the conviction that the hardest topics in human life — child safety, trauma, identity, consciousness — require the most rigorous, most honest, and most direct engagement possible. We bring forensic investigation, educational expertise, somatic practice, and legal knowledge to bear on the protection of children, families, and communities. That is a forensic development system.

Our podcast, Skeptical Mystics, is the public voice of that work. Everything else is the work itself.

Thirty years of front-line experience with children, families, and the nervous system. Kristin is a Social Emotional Learning Facilitator certified through Breathe for Change — a program grounded in the CASEL framework — and a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher. Her children's yoga and adaptive yoga training is through My Vinyasa Practice, with Yoga Alliance registration as a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher.

She brings the body into the forensic conversation. Trauma lives in tissue as much as in memory, and healing requires both the investigative mind and the regulated nervous system. As owner and director of Life-CAHST, she leads the firm's educational programming, somatic services, Psychonautic Yoga curriculum, and child development practice.

Two Disciplines, One Standard of Care

Life-CAHST brings Kristin's educational, developmental, and somatic practice together with Matt's legal and forensic experience. The result is a firm built for situations where child safety, family conflict, institutional risk, and human complexity cannot be handled by one discipline alone.

The work is personal in commitment, but professional in method: documented history, rigorous inquiry, legally informed process, and programs designed around the actual people and facts in front of the team.

The Ecosystem Around the Work

Family, Voice, and Sound

Life-CAHST is held by more than one discipline and more than one person. Around the forensic, legal, educational, and somatic work is a family and creative team that helped shape the voice, texture, and lived humanity of this ecosystem.

Thommy contributes the voice, sound-healing, and contemplative presence that support the broader field around the work.

How We Think

Investigative Principles

These are the foundational principles that govern how we investigate, consult, and teach — drawn from forensic investigation, criminal law, psychology, and hard experience.

Document Everything

If it isn't on paper, it didn't happen. Documentation is the foundation of fair, reproducible, challengeable process.

Consider Alternatives

Every crime scene, every disclosure, every complex situation demands the question: what are the alternative explanations? Tunnel vision is the enemy of truth.

Testimony Is Unreliable

Memory is pliable. Eyewitness testimony is the weakest form of evidence. Corroboration — fruits — matter more than belief.

Treat Everyone Equally

Friends and enemies get the same standard of proof. The same fairness applied to the accused must be applied to the accuser.

Ask What You're Missing

Every scene, situation, and story has something being overlooked. Good investigation is systematically asking: what am I not seeing?

Fruits, Not Faith

We are governed by outcomes, evidence, and real-world impact — not by belief systems, assumptions, or the authority of titles without demonstrated competence.

Our Philosophy

The Investigative Approach

Our work explores the different expressions of consciousness in order to understand the mind. The same forensic discipline used to examine external evidence also helps us approach the most difficult territories of human experience with preparation, structure, and care.

We explore and investigate the mind to understand consciousness. We explore reality and what it means to be human. We deal in complex, transformative experiences — the distressing, the frustrating, and those that fundamentally affect identity.

An astronaut's purpose is to travel somewhere and come back safely — with something to apply. That's what we do. We don't explore aimlessly. We go, we gather, we bring it back, and we apply it.

Matt Long · Child Advocate, Trial Attorney, Counselor of Law

The topics we engage — sex, death, drugs, violence, child safety, trauma, faith, identity — are not topics most institutions have the tools to address honestly. We believe they are precisely the topics that require the most rigorous, most compassionate, and most direct engagement possible.

The Best Protection Is a Safe Adult

Our goal is not simply prevention. The goal is effective and proper responses — and more of them. We exist to equip more adults to be the person of safety when a child, a family, or a community needs one.
